Shooting for Westport Lifestyle Magazine gives me the opportunity to meet people like owner and chef Bill Taibe and his restaurant Jesup. I get really cool assignments where I can walk in and be creative and photograph things that I love. I enjoy going into a business and basically covering all that a business has to offer. Its people, service and their product. The reason why they hired me is because I can go into a business and show through my photography what the business is all about. shooting candidly when I have to and then setting up lamps when I have to. All to showcase what the business has to offer.

The Child and Family Guidance Center contacted me to shoot portraits of their staff, as well as take photos for promotional uses. The Child and Family Guidance Center is a child-centered, family-focused, and community-based agency that offers high-quality mental health care to children under the age of 18 and their families . Their mission is to promote positive child development and the emotional well-being of children as well as to empower families to provide a nurturing, caring, and safe haven for children to grow and to mature. Almost all of their services are offered free of charge, and no one is turned away because of inability to pay. Bellow are some of the portraits and promotional pictures I took for them.

I photograph portraits of all the team members and also for the fundraising and promotional pieces. All of this is used on the website as well.

I like the natural setting for these images, but I am also comfortable shooting with standard backgrounds or in studio.

The creative director for Oldendorff contacted me and wanted to see if I could shoot some portraits for their website. He first had to make sure that I had the same equipment as they had in Germany, because they wanted all the images of all of the companies offices to look similar. First question, do you have a green screen, then do you have two soft boxes and finally, what about a 34 inch beauty dish. I was happy to say that yes, I had all of what he had and also the 34 inch beauty dish ( in fact, I just got the dish, and it is awesome) All perfect timing. The beauty dish is great for portraits and gives the subject soft light.

The key to shooting green screen is even background lighting. Of course getting the talent to act natural and approachable falls on the photographer as well. One of my specialties. The rest is up to the photo shop person. Above are the samples I had in photoshop and what these images would look like from samples of Oldendorff’s website.

Hiring a professional photographer will get you high quality images for your website and for all your branding material. It is the way to go.

Working with marketing companies is great because they come to you with specifics. They want a certain look or a certain feel for a shoot. Many marketing companies are focusing on branding and re branding for clients websites. Quinton from Element 8 Design approached me to photograph a local Psychiatrist and his team. He wanted a natural looking background so I photographed the team at his office.

Usually on location shoots I bring  smaller more portable gear, but it depends on the situation. I like to tether up to a computer so the clients and myself can see the images as they are shot. This way we can make changes as we photograph. In some cases the time will not allow this and we find a quicker solution. I had maybe 5 minutes with each person so you have to find a way to make each person look approachable in a short amount of time.

Here are samples of the website. Individual portraits with a group image and I also took “detail” shots for background usage. I really enjoy photographing business portraits on location as well as in my studio in Westport.

Laurie Singari is a new real estate agent working with Phyliss Doonan and Associates in Stamford.I really enjoyed working with Laurie, she has a very bright personality and she really makes you feel comfortable. I should be saying the opposite, that I really made her feel comfortable, but you get the idea. I used my new beauty dish on Laurie and the light is wonderful. Along with the new dish, I recently added a new studio lighting system that incorporates 4 new flash heads. It has been a real thrilling experience getting to meet new people and shoot their headshots.
