I had the opportunity to photograph a great abstract artist, David Stephen Johnson at his home. The purpose of the shoot was to show the artist in his environment and get a few portraits for an upcoming show. The portraits were to be used as promotional materials for print and website. We were in a tight crunch because The Hamptons Virtual Art Show needed the images right away.

I felt very comfortable shooing David. He was very easy to get along with and had interesting stories growing up. Here are some images that I took

I get asked to photograph many different things. That is why I enjoy being a photographer. One day I am shooting hairbrushes, the next day I am shooting aerials with a drone, then the next day bones and treats for Earth Animal. Every day is a different shoot. One of the facets of my business is corporate branding photography. I really appreciate photographing people. To make people feel at ease in front of the camera, you have to be a good listener and you have to interact naturally with them.

If I do photograph for you, you will notice that I am a talker and a good listener. I may never shut up, but I will make you feel at ease and get the images needed to showcase your business.

The images below are from a recent shoot I did for a local financial company.

I like the background here.
Different backgrounds offer different looks.

This is in2bluedesign a company that designs pools.  this segment was photographed for Westport Lifestyle Magazine, but I think every business should hire me to photograph them. I can not think of a better way to market your business and show people what you do and what your working environment is.  I really think this interests people. These shoots are simple and straight forward with added creativity to help brand your business.

Shooting for Westport Lifestyle Magazine gives me the opportunity to meet people like owner and chef Bill Taibe and his restaurant Jesup. I get really cool assignments where I can walk in and be creative and photograph things that I love. I enjoy going into a business and basically covering all that a business has to offer. Its people, service and their product. The reason why they hired me is because I can go into a business and show through my photography what the business is all about. shooting candidly when I have to and then setting up lamps when I have to. All to showcase what the business has to offer.

There are many different set ups to use when shooting head shots. I know the beauty dish is real popular right now and I have been using it quite often. It has a nice wide soft light. In many cases I will use a simple piece of foam core to get an added reflection or piece of light. I ask the client what type of look they are interested in and we agree upon a few different set ups. I like to mix up a few just to offer different choices. Portraits are so important to your branding. A clean nicely lit portrait projects a professional and approachable business. Here are 10 tips to looking good for a corporate portrait.
