The creative director for Oldendorff contacted me and wanted to see if I could shoot some portraits for their website. He first had to make sure that I had the same equipment as they had in Germany, because they wanted all the images of all of the companies offices to look similar. First question, do you have a green screen, then do you have two soft boxes and finally, what about a 34 inch beauty dish. I was happy to say that yes, I had all of what he had and also the 34 inch beauty dish ( in fact, I just got the dish, and it is awesome) All perfect timing. The beauty dish is great for portraits and gives the subject soft light.

The key to shooting green screen is even background lighting. Of course getting the talent to act natural and approachable falls on the photographer as well. One of my specialties. The rest is up to the photo shop person. Above are the samples I had in photoshop and what these images would look like from samples of Oldendorff’s website.

Hiring a professional photographer will get you high quality images for your website and for all your branding material. It is the way to go.

Working with marketing companies is great because they come to you with specifics. They want a certain look or a certain feel for a shoot. Many marketing companies are focusing on branding and re branding for clients websites. Quinton from Element 8 Design approached me to photograph a local Psychiatrist and his team. He wanted a natural looking background so I photographed the team at his office.

Usually on location shoots I bringĀ  smaller more portable gear, but it depends on the situation. I like to tether up to a computer so the clients and myself can see the images as they are shot. This way we can make changes as we photograph. In some cases the time will not allow this and we find a quicker solution. I had maybe 5 minutes with each person so you have to find a way to make each person look approachable in a short amount of time.

Here are samples of the website. Individual portraits with a group image and I also took “detail” shots for background usage. I really enjoy photographing business portraits on location as well as in my studio in Westport.

It has been over a year since I purchased my drone and I have found that my confidence in flying has greatly increased. I used to clear roof lines by 30 feet and thinking that was too close. Now I barely clear the roof in order to get great images. I also plan on my drone shoots longer and visualize what the client is looking for and how I will capture it. Architects and builders can use my drone photography and video to show before and afters – installation of new and exciting products – and finished work for their portfolios and website. Here is a sample of John Rountree’s solar panel installation on his house.
